December 6 - St. Nicholas Day
St. Nicholas Day is a Christian festival for children. It is held in many different European countries, and in some regions it’s more important than Christmas.

St. Nicholas Day is especially important in Germany and the Netherlands, but it is also celebrated in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Aruba, Monaco, and other places.

One of the most popular customs is for children to put out their shoes or boots, which they have filled with carrots for St. Nicholas’s horse, on the night of December 5. Then they wake up to find the carrots gone and their shoes or boots filled with treats to eat and or/ presents.
